Hello all,
I just joined here after seeing Shortee's great videos on Youtube.
I am a part time Mobile DJ in NJ who does private parties.
I have been doing private parties for years, but got into Serato and Turntablism last year when I got the equipment and took classes at Scratch Academy in NYC. My turntable skills are still in their infantcy, but lucky for me, they are sometimes enough to impress people at my mobile dj parties, where most DJs don't bring turntables and many don't even beatamatch at all.

I just ordered two Stanton t60x turntables to upgrade from my Gemini tt02 tables. I am sticking with cheap turntables for now, because "I am cheap", and they are lightweight enough to easily carry around in a coffin with my Rane 57sl. I think the Stanton t60 turntables will be a big improvement because they have quartz lock and appear to have continuous quartz lock from playing with them at the store. When scratching, tapping or pushing, they seem to return quickly to the set pitch and lock in there. The stanton t60 has nowhere near the torq of the "big boy" turntables, and will make certain scratch tecniques difficult, but I think they will be good for me. The Gemini tt02 s are decent, for a cheap direct drive, but aside from having weak motors, I think they have analog pitch circutry which makes them take a little longer to settle back into their set pitch. Technics obviously have continuous quartz pitch lock and powerful motors. Thoes babies hardly ever leave their set pitch, and when the do, BAM, they snap right back to the right speed, the instant you let go of the platter. But, at 27lbs each, I am holding off on getting them, and using cheaper and more portable decks.

Anyway, thats my thoughts on turntable, and hello everyone.

I have a couple of my beginner turntable mixes on my website: djfeelthemusic.com services page.

Mark
